Live Action Robotech / Macross?

I just read this afternoon that Lawrence Kasdan (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Return of the Jedi, The Big Chill) is writing a script for a live action Robotech/Macross movie. Depending on how it was done, it could be interesting. There was talk before that there was a live action version of Macross Plus and this appears to be connected. Who knows? But the results so far of anime turned into live action by Hollywood has been disappointing . . . .
