I'm looking for a video converter to re-encode AMVs for an ipod. Something like handbrake but with support for any video format.

I have looked at the new videora program, but it's buggy and really sucks (it navigates like a web page).

So I checked out a bunch of other alternatives and found that they are a huge pain in the ass.

I saw there was a new version of videora, so I gave it a shot. They fixed a few of the critical bugs and generally make it more usable. I was also able to dig around the forums and find the option to set the number of threads. It's buried really in the encoding profile under one of the tabs.

The end result is that while not being as nice as handbrake, it is the most usable program I have tried.

From lack of feedback, I'll just assume you didn't like S.U.P.E.R. either.

It's really powerful, but doesn't have nice presets for encoding compatible video. It also looked like I would need to set the cropping / padding, bitrate, sample rate, frame rate, etc. for each video I encoded. That's not too bad if all I want to do is convert DVDs, but for varied AMVs, it can be a pain. It would tough to get good results unless I found a profile for it and sunk a bunch of time into it.
