I'm having problems playing some mkv files. Actually it works fine until I load the subtitles. If I try to play the files with VLC, the subtitles are HUGE to the point where they don't even fit in the video player.
If I try to play the file with media player classic (CCCP), the video becomes really slow and gets out of synch with the audio (which goes at normal speed).

The video file name includes (H264.Vorbis)
I'm not sure if it's any important, but it sounds like codec mumbo jumbo so I figured I'd include it.

one of my favorite quotes of DAv4, related to CCCP (or ffdshow specifically)

QUOTE (kira80;94090)
When you encode something in h264 you can choose the level of deblocking that will be performed by the decoder on the other end when someone plays your encode...the difference you notice between different groups may come from a different level of deblocking (there may be other parameters that affect the efficiency of decoding)...try disabling h264 deblocking in ffdshow (ffdshow video decoder configuration => codecs => select h264 => check 'skip deblocking always' or 'when safe' I don't know) and see how it works...

It may come from that because animated media support a very high level of deblocking without sensible loss of details...some groups may go overboard with it...

Anyway, people ignored my post above...too bad for you !

...Otherwise, you can try getting your hands on coreAVC for your h264 needs.

the deblocking thing worked for the most part, after watching for like 8 mins or so, i can still notice that it's slowly getting out of synch
adjusting the seeking bar seems fix that (for awhile)

i think the processor is about 1.3 GHz?

Yeah, CoreAVC allows you to play those kind of videos with less requirements. It is definately faster then the others.

That's pushing the limits for .264 decoding depending on the video resolution. You can also look for framedropping options and turn them on if possible. The rendering mode also can affect performance greatly, so it's worth trying a few out.

You can also try using VSFilter to render the subtitles.
