Im currently playing the beta and have high hopes cause at the moment im totally in love with the dark ages kinda look with nobles running around and stuff, this game rocks in every manner. Hope you guys give this beta a try and enjoy the game cause if this game really does become free.... IM BUYINN.

Anything is better than WoW at this point, but I have discovered MMORPGs are nothing more than a scramble for gear... is that how this is?

Not really, this thing goes beyond level 100, at which point you need recommendations and such, and only at that point can you join a faction. Wrold is huge, and the focus point on this game is mores stances. Stances are basically your method of fighting, you choose one and up it as much as you can so that it best suits your team. In this game you move in 3man cells, controll all 3 at the same time and try to make each character accomodate the other. You have your own house(in the nobel kinda way, meaning people of the same family) where you swap between characters and try to set your team up. Its more on a tactical level.

I was about to say that Granado Espada had that exact same party system and graphics but then I realized sword of the new world appears to be the english marketed name/game. They didnt always have that Sword of the New World website, I was part of the closed beta testing for this a few months ago but it doesnt run well on my laptop T_T

Yeah oreo was suppose to play, im on the va-something server(only 3 btw and only 1 starts with v so shouldn't be hard to find it) and been trying to get my hands on some good builds but I suppose I have to forge my own. Still game is rather enjoyable and I cant wait to try out the pvp aspect.

I'm the same way. Played for a while, then quit for a while, did this about 5 times over the past 5 years... just the constant strain of trying to get better gear got old fast.

That's why I hope this or something else is different.

But I also hate PvP, I like MMOs where players are a team, not enemies.

yeah, need to download still... server screwd up once...

but 3 characters...does that mean if you have enough skill that you can solo easily, or is it just the same as having one character (say hunting the big bosses...and not being able to do it by yourself)

but i like rpgs when it gets tactical (instead of killing a big bad boss with 15 people, doing it in the bare minimal)

Ah believe me, you cant get anywhere without help. Every dungeon is fluded with 3 man cells trying to hold a room off because of massive enemy spawns, its insane, and people running away from monsters will lure them into a new room and random boss pop up. So without help, getting through a dungeon takes ageesss.

Edit* yeah you can solo, but youd have to be pretty high leveled and healing potions arent all that popular, so people tend to have one character who can heal(keep in mind, unlike other games there is no priest or healer in this game specifically so things become more intersting that way ).
Btw its takin you long to download, one of the mirrors said I needed 21 hours to download, so I ended up swithcing and it only took an hour.

I found a nice build for my three man cell where I transform my scout into a medic, and my other 2 guys into stationary sentries that attack from a distance, I basically dont touch a button and leave my characters on defense mode and they eliminate everything in the vicinity. I'd just leave my game on forever if I could but to stop that the creators put a 5 mins timer on defense mode, so if your characters remain on defense mode for 5 mins the game exits. Still its a nice change, finally found a build that suits my three man cell in this specific area, makes the game cool.

Ppp dunno, I download through their site by sigining up then when through a mirror, wouldn't why it doesn't work for you. At any rate I havent played lineage and dont plan too, im content to play this game. And how can you say a game is a rip off another? most games nowadays are all based on something about you can compare them to something unless they are totally out of this world, I mean even the races in world of warcraft could have been taken from warhammer, so hearing someone say its a ripoff doesn't bother me unless every aspect of the game matches another.

hehehe im thinking of joining the beta right now. i watched my brother play on the last beta before it closed n looks interesting, but they closed before i could signup.

if we get enough people together we can basically have a whole army in game

Yeah thats one of the better points, the moment you enter the game regardless of where you go you'll end up passing people by and i've seen clans rally togethere. When you hae 8 groups of 3 man cells its lethal, like they clear dungeons within minutes so thats always entertaining.

Not a bad game but it doesn't feel like it would be worth paying monthly to play.
