Hm . . well, I wanted to make a poll, but I don't see any options for creating one. I'll just go ahead and make the thread, and see if a mod can change it to a poll later on.

I was going to do this a while back, but never got around to it. Anyway, I made a layout for each individual Arm Slave, with whatever information I could find from the main FMP site, and various fansites. By looking at the thumbs, It shouldn't be hard to tell which AS'es I couldn't find any info for. :heh:

So, list your favorite AS, and make sure to vote again when the poll gets set up. :niceguy:

Note:
The only Arm Slave not listed here is Clouzot's black M9 Custom, from TSR. I think that's the only new AS in the series. I'm still planning on making a page for it, and will ask for it to be added to the poll.

Also, even though the DeDanaan isn't an AS, there was a lot of info on it, and it's used quite a bit for attacking purposes, so I threw it in there anyway.

Hmm, now I'm confused about the whole Codarl and Venom thing again.

TSR spoilers:
I always thought Codarl was what Amalgam called both of their units that are equipped with the Lambda driver. In episode 12 of TSR, Gauln says something like, "You shouldn't forget my Codarl was equipped with a Lambda Driver. It can protect its operator even when self-destructing." when referring to the red one he piloted in the end of the first FMP.
"Venom" seems to be the codename that Mithril uses to refer to them.

Good point, I forgot about some of the details in that scene. But the AS Gauron was piloting at the end of the first season was definitely a Venom (episode 20 was titled "Venom's Fire", and he used it until the end of the 1st season). Maybe it's an error by the FMP:TSR team.

The main FMP site has no information about the Shadow, the Shadow MP model, the M6, the F-96, or the Venom, so I got the info for those mechs by rewatching parts of the first season, and looking through some fansites. There's a good chance I might have made a mistake, so if anyone notices something wrong, let me know and I'll make the changes.

I kind of liked the M6, probably because of the fact that the first series episode that Tessa fought Melissa in a M6 was probably my favorite episode of the whole run.....

the M6 and the Force Model 96 are based on the same design (if not the same model with different designations).

That could have been it. From the first season, correct? I'll have to go back and rewatch the part where Kalinan was giving the briefing.

Seeing as the Behemoth was just to gigantic for my taste..it comes down to the Venom and Arbalest..Venom's lambda driver was more stable and its pilots seemed to control it with ease whereas the Arbalest was always unstable and sousuke seemed to have problems handling it. But i enjoyed arbalest's AI's humor in TSR so Arbalest ftw!!!

there's also the final ep of season 2, where the Gates' venom and the other 4 AS are refered to as just "Venom. Five of them.".

The TDD-1, TUATHA deDANAAN, is a capitial ship and not an arm slave. As far as warships in anime, it would have to be one of the best . . .

Yeah, I edited the first post to address that. There was enough info to make a page for it, so I decided to add it anyway, though it wasn't really neccessary.

Oh, snap! Can't forget those. Just because they're small doesn't mean they don't count.

Feel free to edit the poll, and I'll make the card for them within a couple of days.

Ah, I see. Well, putting such a big focus on the Arm Slaves of FMP does feel a bit weird, primarily because the story doesn't revolve around them. It's more of a romance/comedy/drama, with mecha and action as an added bonus. With Gundam, everything is undeniably centered around the mecha.

Here's a question (my memory is like, horrible): Do the other Arm Slaves have AIs as advanced as the one in the Arbalest? at least the M9?

hmm... i've wondered that before. the name of the arbalest's onboard computer is AI. so i'm not sure if that implies that other AS computers are not up to that level.

It should be noted though, that the PLAN-1211 Alastor is supposed to be so advanced as to allow the unit to move independently.

I can't think of any evidence from the anime that suggests the AI of the M9's is inferior to AL when it comes to battle tactics and planning. AL appears to be more of a self-learning AI, and being able to actually have a conversation with the pilot kind of puts it on another level by default. Since the Arbalest was never completed, it's hard to make an accurate judgement about it's capabilities one way or the other.

If I had to guess, I'd say the Astral has the superior AI at this point, but that's also iffy. Leonard being the designer already says a lot, and they can move autonomously, but even Leonard admits that there are problems with that, such as the miniaturization of the power source and control system (he said so in the novels, anyway . . I can't remember if he mentioned the same thing in the anime).

and in many font faces you might have a hard time not misreading the lowercase L as an uppercase i (AI/Al).

AI / Al
AI / Al
AI / Al
AI / Al
AI / Al

I think I remember one of the episodes had subs that called it "Ar" too. I think it was in one of the earlier episodes of the second raid, I'll go check later.
