So I'm confused...
Itachi said that he can't beat Jiraiya (not those words but something along those lines), Jiraiya can't beat Orochimaru on his own (as seen when he and Naruto go after Tsunade), Orochimaru is afraid of Itachi, Sasuke can't beat Itachi so he is going to give his body to Orochimaru so that Orochimaru who can't beat Itachi on his own could kill him...:???:
I just have to say this again... Itachi avoids Jiraiya and doesn't go after Naruto during the timeskip (as Kakashi said 'cause he was with Jiraiya), yet Orochimaru can kill Itachi... :argh:

OH itachi Mangekyou sharigan(forgot ho to spell) move can kill ochimaru from mental fatige. only a member of the uchiha clan can with stand it aka sasuke. Jiraiya can use summons to beat itachi but not sure. but Jiraiya cant kill ochi for sum reason i dont know

Jiraiya can't kill Orochimaru because Jiraiya still thinks of Oro as his friend just like Naruto/Sasuke relationship but he just gave up on returning him to Konoha. Amd for those who bring up the fight between the Three Sannin remember that Jiraiya was drugged.

The Sannin are no joke. But I do believe Oro has become weak because he depends on the strength of his containers. It is confusing tho. Why doesn't Jiraiya just kick Oro arse and get over with, but that wouldend the series real quick. I also believe that Jiraiya my have found out a way to beat the Sharringan and Oro hasn't and "that jutsu" has something to do with defending the Sharringan.

Orochimaru can use summons to. But I doubt that Orochimaru would use containers that would diminish his strength, he is on a power quest... :hypno:
Even if we say that Orochimaru and Jiraiya have identical power levels, then why won't Itachi just kill Jiraiya and get it over with, if he is even feared by Orochimaru... :???:

There's a couple points of view on the topic.

The one most people agree on isn't that Itachi was afraid to fight Jiraiya, but that Itachi was afraid to fight Jiraiya after using Tsukiyomi twice in the same day. Itachi isn't someone to go into a fight without being sure he's going to win, and Jiraiya isn't a pushover that he'd take a risk against.

Also, I don't remember anyone saying that Itachi wouldn't attack Naruto because he was with Jiraiya. It was just that Akatsuki wasn't planning on making there move for 3 years for some reason. Whether they needed time to master that weird summon, or something else. They weren't planning on going after ANYONE for 3 years.

Most of your points are based on speculation. Noone knows how Jiraiya compares to Orochimaru or Sasuke. All we DO know is that Sasuke said that Orochimaru and him at the moment stand no chance against Itachi, and that's it.

Anywho, Kishi is quite fond of the Rock-Paper-Scissors thing when it comes to relative strength.

Itachi was unwilling to take on Ero-Sennin because there was a good possibility that they COULD die. NOT that Ero-Sennin was any more powerful than himself. Itachi respects the Sannin's power.

I think that Oro is really the hachi-bi, so it's been trying to find the "best" container for itself for a while now. If that means convincing Sasuke-chan that Itachi is WAAAY more powerful than the two of them alone, then *shrugs* s'all good.

In the end, Kyubi-Naruto will wipe the floor w/ all of them.

You should also keep in mind that because person "a" can beat person "b", and person "b" can beat person "c", that doesn't necessarily mean that person "a" can beat person "c". If things were otherwise, the best sports teams would never lose a game, and the world heavyweight champion would never lose a fight. Raw power is one factor, but sometimes one's talents aren't well suited for facing a certain oponent. For instance, Kakashi and Gai are probably about equal in terms of overall combat level, but Gai faired much better against Itachi than Kakashi did simply because his talents make him a better match against a sharingan user.

Lots of factors are always involved. As has been mentioned, Itachi had already used his sharingan quite a bit that day, and didn't want to push it against a Sannin. Also, not wanting to fight someone is not the same as saying that you can't beat him. Even if Itachi is stronger than Jiraiya, who would want to fight a sannin if it can be avoided? Even if Itachi could win, such a battle would be dangerous.

Yup, that is probably the most important consideration here. Itachi is strong, Orochimaru is strong, Jiraiya is strong. However, there is no telling who can beat who without seeing an actual fair fight... When i say fair I mean no one is drugged or weakened from fighting earlier in the day. Everyone is at their peak performance.

Twice. Once on Kakashi in Konoha, and then once on Sasuke in the hotel right before Jiraiya arrived. The whole "You lack hatred" thing.

That was the whole reason Naruto went to go find Tsunade remember? So she could come back and heal Kakashi and Sasuke.

Like many have said, Jiraiya being there was not the sole reason Itachi left Naruto alone, I remember him saying along the lines of if Naruto is only at this state, then they don't need him yet. Also, Kakashi also said that the Akatsuki wasn't ready yet to execute their plans.

Plus, Itachi is just a person that avoids unnecessary trouble. When Gai showed up, he avoided a confrontation with him as well. Could he not beat Gai? I am pretty sure he can, but he said that other ninjas were coming, and it would be a hassle to get away then, so he avoided the fight.

Itachi left because of a couple reasons, not solely because Jiraiya was there.

We do not know for sure that Jiraiya can't beat Oro either, but it was hinted that Oro is supposed to be the more talented one, and is supposed to be stronger than Jiraiya. The only certain fact that we know as of right now is that Oro cannot beat Itachi.
